About Anchor Counseling & Support Services

Why Anchor Counseling Was Founded

Anchor Counseling & Support Services was founded from a simple but important belief: people should not have to navigate difficult seasons of life without access to meaningful support.

After more than a decade of experience serving individuals, families, students, and communities across social services and mental health settings, Founder and Owner Kierra Bryant, MSW, saw firsthand the barriers many people face when trying to access quality mental health care. Financial limitations, limited community resources, transportation challenges, insurance barriers, and long waitlists can make it difficult for individuals and families to receive the support they need.

Anchor Counseling & Support Services was created to help address those gaps.

The name Anchor represents stability, support, and having something steady to hold onto during challenging seasons. Life can bring circumstances that leave individuals feeling overwhelmed, uncertain, or disconnected from themselves. Counseling can provide a safe and supportive environment to process experiences, develop healthy coping skills, build emotional awareness, and move forward with greater confidence.

Our approach is grounded in the belief that mental health care should be accessible, compassionate, trauma informed, culturally responsive, and centered on the individual.

You do not have to have everything figured out before asking for help. Sometimes, you simply need a safe place to begin.

Rooted in Georgia and Serving Communities Across the State

Anchor Counseling & Support Services is based in Valdosta, Georgia and provides services throughout Georgia through virtual counseling, school based mental health services, and community partnerships.

Our roots in South Georgia are an important part of our identity. We understand that access to mental health care can look different in rural, underserved, and resource limited communities. We are committed to creating opportunities for individuals, schools, and community organizations to connect with quality mental health support.

Whether we are working with a student through a school partnership, providing virtual counseling to an individual, or collaborating with an organization to address a community need, our purpose remains consistent.

We help people feel supported, develop practical tools for managing life's challenges, and move toward healthier and more fulfilling lives.

What Makes Anchor Counseling Different

We Meet People Where They Are

Mental health care should not be one size fits all.

Our services are designed to consider the individual needs, circumstances, and goals of the people we serve. For some clients, virtual counseling provides the flexibility needed to access care from the comfort of home. For students, school based services can make mental health support more accessible within an environment they already know. For organizations, community partnerships can create opportunities to bring mental health education and supportive services directly to the populations they serve.

Our goal is to provide services that are accessible, practical, and responsive to real life needs.

We Understand Student Mental Health

School based mental health services are an important part of Anchor Counseling & Support Services.

Students today are navigating academic pressure, peer relationships, family changes, social media, identity development, trauma, grief, anxiety, depression, and many other challenges. These experiences can significantly affect a student's emotional well being, behavior, relationships, and ability to engage successfully in school.

We believe students should have access to mental health support before their challenges become a crisis.

Through school partnerships, Anchor may provide individual counseling, group counseling, crisis intervention, safety planning, psychoeducation, emotional regulation support, and skill building designed to promote student well being.

More Than Counseling

While counseling is an important part of our work, Anchor Counseling & Support Services is committed to supporting mental health beyond the traditional counseling session.

Our services and partnerships may include individual counseling, virtual counseling, school based mental health services, group counseling, trauma informed support, mental health education, psychoeducation, emotional regulation and coping skills development, crisis intervention, safety planning, parenting support, organizational consultation, community partnerships, and referrals to appropriate resources.

Our goal is to provide support that is practical, compassionate, and meaningful both inside and outside of the counseling environment.

We Provide Trauma Informed Care

We recognize that behavior, emotions, and relationships can be influenced by experiences that are not always immediately visible.

Our clinical approach incorporates trauma informed care, cognitive behavioral strategies, psychoeducation, emotional regulation, and practical coping skills. We help clients better understand their experiences while developing healthier ways to manage emotions, relationships, and life challenges.

We do not simply ask what is wrong.

We take time to understand what happened, what support is needed, and what steps can help create meaningful change.

We Believe in Collaboration

Mental health does not exist in isolation.

An individual's support system may include parents, caregivers, educators, school counselors, social workers, healthcare providers, community organizations, and other professionals.

Collaboration allows these systems to work together more effectively.

Anchor Counseling & Support Services partners with schools, community organizations, youth serving programs, and other professionals to strengthen connections to mental health education, resources, and support.

When communities work together, individuals and families have greater opportunities to access the support they need.
